"Comfort food isn't just about taste...it's a warm reminder that een in life's businest seasons, we deserve moments of nourisment, joy, and simple peace." -Daphne Oh

As many of you who follow me may already know, I am a foodie. I absolutely love everything to do with food. I can’t help it. It’s in my genes lol. So, I thought, why not start this month’s blogs with sharing my comfort foods. It only makes sense to do so with the shift in seasons approaching.

There’s something magical about the arrival of fall. It is truly my favorite season. The air feels crisper, the days grow a little shorter, and life seems to invite me to slow down and savor the simple things. For me, comfort in this season isn’t just about wrapping myself in a blanket or sipping a hot drink. It’s also about nourishing my body with foods that feel good, fuel me, and remind me that even small routines can bring big joy. However, I will use any reason to enjoy some great comfort food lol.

One of my favorite fall morning rituals is starting the day with a yogurt bowl. I love layering creamy yogurt with crunchy granola, a drizzle of honey, and seasonal fruits like crisp apples, pears, or even warm cinnamon-spiced peaches. It feels like a hug in a bowl…sweet, nourishing, and grounding. When I sit with it in the quiet of the morning, it reminds me that taking care of myself doesn’t have to be complicated. The great thing about yogurt bowls is that you can add any type of fruit that you choose. It doesn’t have to be the same bowl every time. However, I am partial to dried cranberries, bananas, and peaches as my main fruit. For me, Greek yogurt is the best choice because of the volume of protein. However, you can choose what’s best for you.

I also make a point to add fresh fruit to my breakfasts. There’s something so refreshing about a burst of juicy peach slices alongside eggs or a handful of berries tossed over toast. Fruit feels like nature’s way of giving me energy and brightness, especially when the skies outside turn gray.

Because fall tends to be a season where I crave comfort, I’ve found that high-protein meals help keep me balanced and energized. A simple protein shake has become a go-to, especially on busy mornings. Sometimes I’ll blend chocolate protein powder with almond milk and banana for a cozy, almost dessert-like shake, or I’ll go green with spinach, vanilla protein, and frozen mango. It’s amazing how much better I feel when my body is fueled with protein. It carries me through the day with steady energy instead of those afternoon crashes.

Egg, Avocado and Fruit

One of the simplest yet most satisfying meals I make is boiled eggs with avocado. It’s wholesome, filling, and honestly, so comforting in its simplicity. I’ll sprinkle a little sea salt, cracked pepper, and sometimes a pinch of chili flakes for warmth. The creaminess of avocado paired with the richness of the eggs feels like the perfect combination, healthy but indulgent at the same time.

Fall has always been a reminder to me that comfort doesn’t have to come from heavy or complicated foods. It can be found in the little things: a bowl of yogurt that brightens my morning, fruit that refreshes my spirit, or protein-packed meals that give me strength to take on the season with clarity and energy.

This fall, I’m choosing foods that not only satisfy my cravings but also support my body and mind. And in doing so, I’m reminded that comfort isn’t just about indulgence. It’s about creating space for nourishment, balance, and joy in everyday life.
