Early intervention has been crucial to our journey

"Trust your instincts. Advocate for your child. Lean into your faith. And most importantly. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small it may seem."

April is Autism Acceptance Month, and for my family and I, this time is deeply personal. Autism awareness and acceptance is not just something we recognize. It's something we live every single day. My daughter is on the autism spectrum, and this journey has shaped our lives in ways that continue to grow, stretch, and bless us.

I am truly honored and excited to share my personal stories and experiences throughout this month. My hope is that by opening up about our journey, I can encourage other families, spread awareness, and remind someone that they are not alone.

My Daughter, Kayla Bean: A Beautiful Blessing

My daughter, Kayla Bean, has changed my life for the better in every way imaginable. She has taught me patience, unconditional love, strength, and how to truly appreciate life’s smallest moments.

Every milestone she reaches is a victory. Every smile is a reminder of how blessed I am.

I thank The Most High every day for choosing me to be her mother. There is no greater purpose than this assignment. Raising Kayla has deepened my faith, strengthened my heart, and shown me what true love really looks like.

Trusting My Instincts Opened The Door To The Help My Child Needed

Early intervention has been crucial to our journey. I remember when my mom first noticed certain signs in Kayla that I had overlooked. At the time, I simply saw my daughter as unique and growing in her own way. It wasn’t until those observations were brought to my attention that I began to look a little closer.

Later, an educator mentioned autism but reassured me that there was nothing to be concerned about at the time. Kayla was just two years old.

Still, something didn’t sit right in my spirit.

I chose to trust my instincts and seek outside professional support. That decision was one of the most important choices I’ve ever made as a mother. After further evaluation, Kayla was diagnosed with autism. That diagnosis opened the door to early intervention services that would play a key role in her development.

Loving My Child Has Given Me a Whole New Way to See the World

After the diagnosis, life shifted.

I had to learn how to see the world differently, not just for Kayla, but for myself as a mother. I began to understand that parenting a child on the spectrum requires patience, flexibility, advocacy, and a deeper level of awareness.

It taught me how to slow down, how to celebrate progress in new ways, and how to meet my child exactly where she is.

Our Path Is Different, But It’s Filled With Purpose And Love

I won’t say this journey has been easy.

There have been challenging moments, uncertain days, and times where I felt overwhelmed. There have been bumpy roads and rough patches that tested my strength and my faith.

But we are a family that pushes through.

We rise. We adjust. We keep going.

And through every obstacle, there has been growth. Through every challenge, there has been a purpose.

Every experience, good and difficult, has been worth the reward.

Our Story Is Written In Faith, Love, And Acceptance

Through it all, my faith has remained my foundation.

I truly believe that The Most High makes no mistakes. Kayla was created with purpose, and I was chosen to guide, nurture, and love her through this journey.

Autism Acceptance Month is more than just awareness. It's about embracing differences, showing compassion, and creating a world where children like Kayla are seen, valued, and celebrated.

To Every Autism Family Walking This Path: Keep Trusting, Keep Believing

You are chosen for your child. You are stronger than you think. And you are not alone.

Trust your instincts. Advocate for your child. Lean into your faith. And most importantly. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small it may seem.

As we step into Autism Acceptance Month, I am proud to share our story. I am grateful for every lesson, every moment, and every blessing that has come with this journey.

We walk this path with love, faith, and purpose.

And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
